History of the ShapeAnnotator
Thanks to the advances produced by the EU FP6 NoE
AIM@SHAPE, and within its scope, in March 2006 ideas about representing the semantics of 3D shapes have become mature enough, and the software project
ShapeAnnotator started.
In the earliest stages, several members of the
Shape Modelling Group at IMATI-GE were involved in meetings and discussions, and version 1.0 of the ShapeAnnotator was born (see
IMATI-GE Technical Reports and AIM@SHAPE's newsletter #6).
Since the beginning of 2007, the new version 2.0 (currently a beta release) of the software has been growing, broad support to OWL-DL has been integrated and automatic annotation features have been implemented.
In September 2007 the ShapeAnnotator has been released as a GPL Open Source software project and hosted by
sourceforge.net.
